About Us
The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry is one of the world's oldest and most respected fraternal organizations — a philosophical tradition dedicated to the pursuit of knowledge, virtue, and the betterment of mankind.
What We Are
The Scottish Rite is an appendant body of Freemasonry that confers the 4th through 32nd degrees. These degrees are not higher than the Master Mason degree — rather, they are additional degrees that expand upon the moral and philosophical teachings of the Blue Lodge.
Each degree is a dramatic presentation exploring themes of justice, truth, honor, and the nature of the divine — drawing from the ancient wisdom of Egypt, Greece, Rome, and the Judeo-Christian tradition.
The Scottish Rite is not a religion, but it is deeply religious in character — welcoming men of all faiths who believe in a Supreme Being and the immortality of the soul.

Our History
The Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite is formally established in Charleston, South Carolina.
Albert Pike reorganizes and codifies the degrees, publishing Morals and Dogma — the foundational philosophical text of the Scottish Rite.
The Valley of Wichita is established, bringing the Scottish Rite to Kansas.
Membership grows throughout the Orient of Kansas as Scottish Rite Masonry expands across the Midwest.
The Valley of Wichita continues to confer degrees, support charitable causes, and build better men through philosophical Freemasonry.
What We Stand For
The bond between Scottish Rite Masons transcends geography and circumstance — a fraternity built on mutual respect, trust, and genuine care for one another.
Through RiteCare and other charitable programs, the Scottish Rite provides meaningful support to children with learning disabilities and those in need.
The pursuit of knowledge and moral truth is the cornerstone of every degree. Scottish Rite Masonry challenges its members to think deeply and live virtuously.
The Scottish Rite welcomes men of all faiths and backgrounds, united by a shared commitment to the brotherhood of man and the fatherhood of God.
The Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, Southern Jurisdiction, exists to build better men through the conferral of its degrees, the promotion of its principles, and the support of its charitable programs.
In Wichita, we carry that mission forward — welcoming Master Masons who seek more light, deeper knowledge, and a broader brotherhood.
